UNDERWATER

This series abstractly visualizes the earth’s water surface. In each work, I begin with an underlying map that provides visual structure, and is followed by applications of fluid and puddling paint and other media that often appear to melt on the top. Begun in 2018, Underwater contemplates the effects of climate change—rising tides, loss of coastal lands, increasingly powerful storms—that increasingly flood the news, our psyche, and, increasingly, the land.
